There’s nothing like being a mum to start you questioning what products you buy, the foods that you eat and the impact that this has on the environment. How is it produced, what do those E numbers mean, what exactly goes in it? The same goes for sanitary products. Ubiquitous marketing campaigns by the same old big brands give very little real choice – with virtually no information about what’s actually in the product. This business model is reliant on ever changing packaging, chemical enhancement and over engineering of what should be, let’s face it, an essential and straightforward product.
We are both passionate about building a business that has transparency, sustainability and social justice at its core. Co-founder Affi has set up inclusion policies for Immigrant girls, sits on the NHS England Clinical Referencing Group for Adolescent Mental Health and provides our in- house expertise on all things menstrual ( via her senior Consultant Gynaecologist husband Chris). Co-founder Diahann combines financial acumen from her former life as a fund manager, with her experience in the charitable sector and the sustainability credentials of an MSC in Environmental technology from Imperial College, London.
Just as Freda’s delivery service makes sure that you never run out of pads and tampons when you need them most, Freda believes period essentials are a universal right for all women and girls.
We’d like you to join us and help make this a reality.
