The 'Curse' or a Monthly Health Report Card
Periods are frustrating. Full stop. From the PMS cravings of stale white Hovis to that annoying little spot on your chin that just won’t disappear- it seems that women around the world have been ‘blessed’ with a nuisance.
From the moment they begin, they plague us. The little red stain on the new bed sheets, the awkward shuffling in the bathroom cubicle at work and the unexplainable outbreaks of anger are all just signs that Mother Nature owns us. The worst part of it has to be the inconvenience of it all. Most of us can deal with the cramps with our handy sidekick Feminax, but to think that the average woman had over 450 menstrual cycles in her lifetime… that’s 450 outings to Superdrug. And what about the women who can’t afford pads? What about the women who have to re-use old rags in order to save themselves the shame in front of their husbands. What does Mother Nature have against them?

But here’s the thing – Mother Nature doesn’t really have a problem with us women at all. Fine, she makes it all a bit difficult with the bleeding, the hormones and for most of us- an eventual pregnancy – but it’s a gesture of love. Periods are basically our monthly health report card. They are a sign of fertility; a sign that we are healthy enough to be a mother and to keep our bone density and hormone balance in check. Moreover, periods are something individualised to each of us. We all have various cycles which inform us of the best time for sexual arousement (oh yes, ladies) and exercise and when just to chill and wallow in righteous self-pity.

That’s where Freda comes in. Like your period, we want to individualise every part your cycle for you. There is no point having night time pads on during the day, or party liners on when you have your heaviest flow. We are here to let you choose what you want and what you need every month. You don’t need to be that woman that shields her see through supermarket bag filled with tampons and pads and hides it inside her coat. Freda saves you that hassle by sending you whatever you need every month through your letterbox. http://www.myfreda.com

So let’s give a little bit back to Mother Nature. She didn’t “curse us” or provide us a monthly “leak week” for nothing. Freda’s tampons are biodegradable, leaving little or no waste to go into landfill. We want to keep our planet green as a little token gesture for Mother Nature. Fine we may have a couple of days where we get a littttttlle grumpy * but it’s all for a good reason. So go eat that stale bread, scream at your family and pop that stoic little spot because at least you have enough sanitary pads to get you through the trauma.
